OLD BUSINESS
President Wright brought the board up to date on the Oscoda range. He explained
that option #3 with a covenant not to sue has been presented to the Oscoda
Township board. He read a letter that attorney Freel has written to the board
warning that a covenant not to sue does not completely protect the club from
future liability. Member Neal Miller has compiled a summary of negotiation
meetings pertaining to the Oscoda Range and President Wright will forward the
information along with current data to the attorney's at MCGRO for review.
Director Douglas explained the raffle is underway. Tickets must be back to Ken
by July 15th. Drawing will take place at the general membership dinner meeting
on September 4th.
Discussion was opened on the new biodegradable clay targets. Director Anderson
reported they are working fine. It was agreed to order the new type in solid
orange color as long as they are within a dime a case of the cost for the old
ones.
Range Officer Pillsbury explained the East Tawas Chamber of Commerce gun show
has been cancelled.
President Wright opened discussion on the club rider mower. Bids for lawn
service were reported. Treasurer Marsh and Director Kindell shared quotes for
the purchase of a new tractor mower. Motion made and passed to purchase a new
tractor mower from Treasurer Marsh's bid of $2,300, sell or trade the existing
green mower and rebuild the white mower to use as a tractor on the grounds. The
motion also included transferring the $1,082.65 from the memorial fund to the
general fund to help cover the cost of the new tractor mower.
Range Officer Pillsbury explained that it has been too wet to work on the new
berm. He noted that someone has been driving across the trap range damaging the
turf. It was agreed to post signs to remind people not to drive across the
range. The next work bee is set for June 8th. at which time a fence will be put
up around the range.
President Wright questioned if any board members had quotes for property
insurance, none had been obtained. He suggested the board be sure to address the
concern before August when the next premium is due.
Motion made and passed for member Neal Miller to be chairman of the nomination
committee to fill four board member terms that are expiring in June.
Range Officer Pillsbury will pick up test kits to test the water at the club
building and rental house.
NEW BUSINESS
President Wright shared a suggestion passed along to him about installing a
deposit box on the range for non-members to pay range dues if no one is around
to take their money. Motion made and passed to install a secured deposit box on
the range, Secretary Hanley will work with Range Officer Pillsbury and he will
weld it.
President Wright asked for a motion to pay for an ad that appeared in the Iosco
County Herald Spring Outdoors supplement, denoting the club' shooting schedule
for summer events. Motion made and passed to run the ad once a month.
Member Douglas questioned age regulations for shooters. President Wright will
check with IDPA on rules for junior membership.
President Wright explained that member Randy McKinney would like permission to
attach a sign on the club sign advertising his CCW classes. Range Officer
Pillsbury has received a similar request from another club member. It was
decided that Range Officer will talk to Dave Myers and President Wright will
talk to Director McKinney about advertising their classes on the club sign.
Motion made and passed that future CCW classes will be charged $100 for
clubhouse use plus $5.00 per non-member student gun fired on the range.
President Wright would like to plan IDPA practice shoots on Sundays about 4pm,
after trap.
Range Officer Pillsbury suggested that future requests to rent the club
facilities will need to be looked at carefully to ensure the party negotiating
the dates and cost is not acting as a spokesperson for someone.
Club membership to CMP did not go through. Range Officer Pillsbury will reapply.
NEW MEMBERS Tim May Motion made and passed to accept new member
