President Wright initiated thanks to all for a nice dinner and to Nikki Pillsbury for preparation of the venison dishes.
President Wright introduced guest speaker Dale Schanz from MCRGO. Mr. Schanz expressed thanks for club members support in the recent election and explained two main initiatives that MCRGO is working on now. He asked for support through legislative contact. Secretary Hanley pointed out that the web site for MCRGO doesn't offer the $5.00 discount for membership dues, Mr. Schanz will have the error corrected. Member Neal Miller questioned if MCRGO could possibly be of any help to the ICSC in securing ownership of the WAFB range. Mr. Schanz said he thinks his organization can be of help. Other questions and concerns were addressed.
OLD BUSINESS President Wright addressed the membership with an update on the WAFB range. Since the DEQ is unwilling to give the club any immunity of previous contamination of the property, Bob Stalker suggests a meeting in Lansing to resolve the issue. President Wright stated a possible RECRA change but it could take as much as a year. Member Neal Miller encouraged the group to press Mr. Stalker to set up the meeting in Lansing, pointing out that the club has tried for ten years to secure the WAFB range and should not turn its backs on the process at this point.
Director Don Moehler has obtained a porta-potty for the club. It will be moved to the range in the near future.
Range Officer Pillsbury explained that the sound proofing in the new shooting shed has not been completed yet.
Range Officer Pillsbury explained the range fee deposit box will be stocked with envelopes by first of year.
President Wright stated that rental house lease needs to be renewed.
President Wright stated that any suggestions from the membership would be welcomed regarding ways to encourage club members to volunteer time with work projects at the club.
Range Officer Pillsbury addressed the need to redecorate the club kitchen and update the small appliances and cooking utensils. Call Lynn if you can volunteer to help. The project will begin in January.
Director Moehler explained he has contacted the NRA for insurance quotes on all the club's insurance needs but does not have the bottom line as yet.
NEW BUSINESS Range Officer Pillsbury reviewed pistol league dates. 4-H begins their BB gun league 1/10/03.
A club member suggested using e-mail to communicate club dinner dates, work projects, etc. rather than spending money for postage. President Wright explained the club is moving in that direction. Secretary Hanley stated he is compiling a list of club members with e-mail access and will share it with all board members for future club event communications.
