OLD BUSINESS
President Wright briefed the general membership on the status of the WAFB range.
The club received a letter from the Attorney General addressing the
contamination liability issue. The letter states that the original party
responsible for contamination would be held liable rather than the present
holders of the land, but no guarantee could be given that the club would never
be liable for future contamination. President Wright feels a new base line study
will probably be coming next. The original base line study was done on only a
partial portion of the land. A Mr. Spaulding from DNR has raised a dispute over
the amount of acreage involved, stating the DNR was looking at 30-35 acres
rather than the 145 acres that have been in negotiation for over 10 years. Mr.
Bob Stalker and President Wright will meet with Mr. Spaulding next week to
present him with the documents and design plans showing the entire 145 acres
have been under consideration from the beginning.
Director Moehler had nothing new to report on delivery of porta-potty or
insurance quotes.
Range Officer Pillsbury had nothing new to report on the shooting shed.
Range Officer Pillsbury had nothing new to report on installation of sign for
the range fee deposit box.
President Wright explained to the general membership that Director Jolley,
Director McKinney and Director Faulstich are putting together a proposal
regarding membership dues increase and how a club member will be able to
volunteer time working at the club in lieu of paying the increase.
Kitchen redecorating is not scheduled yet.
Membership survey will go out with club membership renewal notices.
President Wright showed a display of three different logo choices on denim
shirts that can be ordered through Truly Yours in Oscoda by club members. He had
a sign up sheet available. He stated that American made shirts can be obtained
but the cost would a little more.
Board members names and e-mail addresses are on the club web site.
The steel door lock is in the process of being repaired.
The septic tank is still holding but will probably need replacing in the spring.
NEW BUSINESS
President Wright suggested the April calendar of events be posted on the club
web site now. Range Officer Pillsbury will get the information to the web
master.
Secretary Hanley will forward the swap information to the web master stating the
event will be held March 29th. From 9-5.
Director Anderson gave the group an update on the swap preparation and stated he
needed volunteers to help with the event.
President Wright reminded the membership that the club web site has a want ad
section available to them.
Tina Carafelly explained that the next dinner meeting invitations will request
that attending members bring their own silver ware. This will cut down on the
kitchen work after the dinner.
