Meeting called to order at 7:00 pm by Vice-President Wright. Pledge of
Allegiance and Conservation Pledge. Roll Call: Present: Pillsbury, Frase,
Dombroski, Anderson, Wright, Smith and Spencer Minutes from October: Amended
minutes to change “past president Wright” to “vice-president Wright”. Motion
made by Smith, second by Frase. Minutes approved as amended.
Financial report:
Total income of $1,829.00 with total expenses of $5,667.75. Ending balance is
$13,469.56. Motion to approve by Smith, second by Frase. Treasurer’s report
approved. Shooting report: Income of $1,229.00. Motion to approve by Dombroski,
second by Smith. Motion approved.
Old business:
House rental: House is available and advertisement will be in paper.
Shooting shed: Much work has been done but we are still working on the floor in
the addition.
Fundraising: Nothing new.
Range rules: Pillsbury is working on this.
Grants: We will need to start working on NRA Grant applications after the first
of the year.
Wurtsmith: Nothing new.
501C Application: New application forms have been made available for our use.
Wright noted that we qualify only marginally for this. Our primary purpose as a
club must conform to the 501C requirements. We could potentially pay $500.00 to
submit an application and be denied. Suggestion made to amend bylaws to more
closely conform to 501C rules. Also suggested we investigate other types of
tax-exemptions that may be available and that would also provide property tax
relief. Also discussed that we may need to adopt a “conflict of interest”
policy. This ensures that if members have a conflict of interest within the
club, it must be fully disclosed and that member should not vote on that issue.
Supplies: We still need to purchase more shells. We are waiting on a good sale.
Clay targets were purchased for $1,095.00.
New business:
Calendar: Discussed using an easier calendar system that would include all
shooting events. We will try to post the schedule at the shooting shed and
inside.
New members: Lynn Bessette and Chuck Kinney from Oscoda. Motion by Pillsbury,
second by Dombroski. Motion approved.
Sight-in Days: Slow so far but business will pick up on weekends and closer to
deer season. We will need more volunteers, especially for these busier times.
Marksmanship Rifles: We have not yet purchased but will do later. Certificate:
We are working on a letter of appreciation to Muriel Koepp that will be
presented at the December meeting and Christmas party.
Trap costs: Our cost has increased by $0.25/ case of birds. Current fees for
shooting are $2.50/ round for members, $4.00 for nonmembers and $1.50 for
juniors. Proposal to increase members to $3.00, nonmembers to $4.50 and maintain
juniors at $1.50. It was noted that our fees are still lower than most, if not
all, neighboring shooting clubs. We also discussed that we will need to purchase
a new trap soon, at a cost of approximately $8,000 and that maintenance costs on
existing trap are also high. Motion to accept increased fees by Anderson, second
by Pillsbury. Motion approved.
December meeting: Secretary Spencer will not be at December meeting. Dombroski
offered to take minutes. This meeting will be a dinner meeting and Christmas
party. Pillsbury will take care of dinner. It will be ham and/ or turkey and
will not be a potluck. We may have a gift exchange. Happy hour starts at 5:00
pm, dinner at 6:00 pm and the meeting at 7:00 pm.
Snowplowing: Last year we paid $30.00 per plowing. This year the same plower
will raise our charge to $75.00 per plowing due to gas increases and the length
of time it takes to plow around our fence, etc. Suggested that we solicit
additional estimates.
Donation to Bay-Linwood Legal Defense Fund: This shooting club has had
significant legal problems. A motion was made to show support with a donation of
$100.00 from our club. Motion by Dombroski, second by Pillsbury. Motion
approved. We will also pass the hat for donations at our December meeting.
Correspondence: Donation solicitation from the Great Lakes Shooting Sports
Association. Sales flyer for reactive steel targets from Salute. NRA Club
Connection newsletter. Chamber of Commerce newsletter. NRA club award nomination
form. Donation solicitation from the NRA Foundation.
Meeting adjourned at 8:25 pm.
