I. Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Pillsbury.
II. Pledge of Allegiance and Conservation Pledge.
III. Roll Call: Absent Frase and Marsh. All others present.
IV. Previous Meeting’s Minutes: Motion to approve by Carafelly, second by
McKinney. Motion approved.
V. Financial Report: Ending balance for March is $16,821.75. Motion to approve
by Wright, second by McKinney. Motion approved.
VI. Shoot report: Income of $1,296.70. Motion to approve by Carafelly, second by
McKinney. Motion approved.
VII. Old business
A. Fencing at Wurtsmith Range: Last work bee we moved lots of poles and four
rolls of fencing.
B. Rental house: Toilets were overflowing. Not due to septic. Paid $453.00 to
replace lift station and electrical circuit. Working well now.
C. Brochure: Copies made and distributed to Tawas Chamber. Also available at
Tawas Clubhouse to give out to any interested parties. Consider stamping on map
of Wurtsmith range to say “Opening summer 2006”.
D. Work Bee: In Tawas, repaired lighted sign by road.
E. Hats: Dave Wright has found a place that will sell American-made hats for
$7.50-8.00 plus logo patches for $1.66 each. We could resell hats at a small
profit. Motion, to order several colors of hats and logo patches, made by
Carafelly, second by Dombroski. Motion approved.
VIII. New business
A. Founder’s Fund: McKinney reported that $3,200.00 has been collected so far.
B. Logging: We have received checks for $6,855.00 from Harmon Logging. They
should complete work in 3-4 days.
C. Election Committee: We need to send out election candidate roster by the end
of April for upcoming elections.
D. Discussed a suggestion made at last month’s General Membership meeting to
allow guests of club members to shoot at member prices as a courtesy to our
guests. It might be difficult to manage and could be abused. Instead, Wright
made a motion to give members prices to active- duty, full-time military and law
enforcement personnel. Second by Anderson. Motion approved.
E. Signs for Wurtsmith Range: We may purchase signs that advertise and point to
Old Orchard Park, Oscoda Community Center and our Oscoda range. The signs could
be placed at the corners of Rea and F-41, Rea and Bissonette, and Rea and River
Road.
F. Grants: We will contact NRA regarding applying for grants for this year. We
need to specify exactly where the money will be used. Wright is working on NRA
forms that document where last year’s grant money was used.
G. Bank Account: The Credit Union offers accounts that allow you to separate
your checking account into separate areas. This would make it much easier for
the Treasurer to keep track of Raffle money, Wurtsmith money, etc.
H. Work Bees: April 8th in Oscoda. April 22nd in Oscoda. May 6th in Oscoda.
I. PortaPotties: We may purchase two for use at Oscoda Range. Pumping once
monthly should be sufficient.
J. Calendar: No Changes.
K. Heating system in Oscoda: McKinney will meet with contractor in Oscoda
tomorrow to discuss whether we should continue with fuel oil or switch to
propane tank. We will discuss further at next meeting.
L. IDPA: Wright will sell season passes to cover all IDPA shoots. Children under
18 cam shoot on parent’s season pass. He has ordered 3 boxes IDPA targets that
should last about 1 year for cost of $160.00.
M. Wild Turkey Federation dinner is Thursday night at Wiltse’s. Tickets are
still available.
N. New members: Chris Cataldo from Mt. Pleasant, Robert Cufflar from Oscoda,
James Vissar from Clio and Donald Kelly from East Tawas.
IX. Mail Bag: Chamber newsletter, Walleyes for Iosco County newsletter,
solicitation for money from Project Graduation, Freedom Magazine X.
