accommodate the utility pole.

a long process. Motion to spend $300.00 on non-refundable application fee.

G. 501C application: Returned to us as we did not submit application fee.
H. Tawas Sand and Gravel: Should be starting work soon at Wurtsmith.
I. NRA Grant notification: We should hear soon. Last year we were notified in
September.
VIII. New Business
A. Wurtsmith Range: Fence project should be completed by the end of October. We
will need to get more fencing, ~200’, for the Parking Lot. The fencing
contractor also donated guard rails for our property along Rea Road.
B. Director Dixon suggested that the club consider having club members being
trained as NRA instructors and teaching our own CCW classes. Profits would go
into club funds. This could become a club fund raiser. It was mentioned by
Director McGrath that CCW class participants should also pay range fees. Motion
by McGrath to have Dixon investigate process, expenses, etc, of having club
members teach CCW classes. Second by Dombroski. Motion approved.
C. Initiation fee: It was suggested that we should have an Initiation Fee for
new members to join the club. It could be anywhere form $60-100.00, in addition
to annual dues. It would not effect existing members. It was also discussed that
we could have a work requirements built into the annual dues. If a members
contributes volunteer hours to the improvement of the club, their annual dues
may be decreased or refunded. Motion by Wright, second by McGrath to form a
committee to investigate an initiation fee for new members, and to consider
changing the dues structure to benefit members that work for the good of the
club. Motion approved.
D. Director Bertch suggested that the Wurtsmith Range should have a designated
25 yard range.
E. Director Anderson suggested that Directors needed keys to all properties
affiliated with Wurtsmith Range. Some buildings are not accessible to Board
members attempting to volunteer. He also asked why we need two 100 yard ranges.
Director McKinney answered that this is a request of law enforcement. They would
like to rent the Wurtsmith Range for training and would prefer to have two 100
yard ranges available. A discussion regarding order of construction of all
ranges at Oscoda.
F. Director Spencer suggested that the Club should develop a yearly budget. This
would offset expected income versus expected expenses for 2007. This would help
in planning for both ranges. At the Wurtsmith Range, expenses for new range
development would be anticipated in the budget, and thus everyone would know
exactly what ranges were going to be developed on a yearly basis. A motion was
made by Director Wright to develop a budget for presentation to the General
membership at the December meeting. It should include projected income and
expenses for the Tawas and Wurtsmith Range, and should include all shooting
disciplines. Second by Spencer. Motion approved.
G. Calendar: A nighttime IDPA event will be held on October 21. Sight-In Days
start October 28 and continue through November 14 from 9:00-5:30 at the Tawas
Range. The Tawas Police Authority will have the range on October 18 and 26th for
training.
H. Director Pillsbury noted that once fence and berms are done (should be soon)
members can begin shooting at Wurtsmith Range. We should have a Grand Opening
Celebration in April or May. He also noted that signs advertising businesses can
not be posted on the fence facing Rea Road, per local statute.
I. Bylaw Amendment: Director Pillsbury recommended a bylaw amendment to prevent
Directors from having a conflict of interest regarding club business. Wright
noted that Board members used to sign such a document. Wright will contact Lew
Rudel to further investigate if this should be a bylaw change or a document to
be read and signed by all Board members.
J. A Trap Field Shooting League will start in January.
K. A few trap shooters would like to stake out trap ranges at Wurtsmith Range.
L. New Members: No report.
M. Mail Bag: No report.
